How it all began...Kristie's story
The idea for Recovered Living came from my personal experience with recovery.
I spent 7 months in America being treated for my eating disorder at Monte Nido & Affiliates.
I bridged the gap by skyping with a therapist, consulting with a dietician via email and enlisting my friends for online meal support. Eventually I realized; so long as I had my laptop - there was literally a team at my fingertips.Time and again I heard stories of relapse, insurance cuts and deaths as a result of this pervasive illness.
I thought to myself, imagine if professional online support was available to people all over the world!
Welcome to this place, where I recovered, others recovered, and you can too.

You cannot tell someone's level of health by the size or shape of their body.
We do not believe in 'managing' your eating disorder behaviors. We believe in recovering fully from your eating disorder.
Recovering fully is not just about recovering your relationship with food, it is about recovering your relationship with life.
That recovery might just be the hardest thing you've ever done in your life.
It will be worth it.
What is Recovery?
We align with Carolyn Costin's definition of recovery in her book; 8 Keys to Recovery From an Eating Disorder;
"Being Recovered is when a person can accept his or her natural body size and shape and no longer has a self-destructive relationship with food or exercise. When you are recovered, food and weight take a proper perspective in your life, and what you weigh is not more important than who you are; in fact, actual numbers are of little or no importance at all. When recovered, you will not compromise your health or betray your soul to look a certain way, wear a certain size, or reach a certain number on a scale. When you are recovered, you do not use eating disorder behaviors to deal with, distract from, or cope with other problems."
