Diets take away the things we love
then make us hate ourselves for loving them.

To experience life, you also have to taste it.

With the amount of information and misinformation we are bombarded with on a daily basis...I’m perplexed as to how someone today escapes developing an eating disorder, disordered eating, or body image issues.

The tidal wave of fad diets blasting western culture food has seen food going from being fun, to fearful. Between paleo, juicing, and the recent fear mongering around sugar, there isn’t a whole lot of foods left that feel ‘permissible’, whether you have an eating disorder or not.
Instead of changing our bodies...how about we change our mind about our bodies?
Since the advent of Recovered Living, I have seen some of the ‘healthiest’ eating habits around...yet these people have an unhealthy mind and a restricted life.
Water is 'healthy', but too much of it is called drowning. It might be time to consider changing our perspective on health, and the conversation.

I used to think healthy meant ‘strong’ or ‘good’ or ‘revered’. Now I know healthy isn’t just about what we put into our bodies, it is about what we put into our life.

As a recovered individual, healthy to me now means variety. Healthy means enjoyment. Healthy means it nourishes my body and my soul.

The more we restrict eating food we enjoy, the more we restrict enjoyment in our lives.

To experience life you also have to taste it. I desire a full stomach, because I desire a full life.
An eating disorder is endless, but recovery has an end.
Recovery is absolutely 100% possible. People often say to me, 'I can't recover...you don't know the strength of my eating disorder in my head.'

I don't know the strength of your eating disorder. And you didn't know the strength of mine.

If you have survived to this point however, I know the strength of your heart. And that is everything I need to know.

You can recover.
